Universal Credit, Housing Benefit & Discretionary Housing Payments

Help with Housing Costs

If you're struggling to pay your rent or other housing costs, financial support may be available.

Universal Credit and Housing Benefit

You may be able to get help with your rent through Universal Credit or, in some circumstances, Housing Benefit.

Discretionary Housing Payments

If your benefit doesn't fully cover your rent, you may be eligible for a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP). DHPs can provide extra financial support for tenants receiving Housing Benefit or the housing costs element of Universal Credit.

Bedroom Tax Support

If you're affected by the bedroom tax, you may be able to receive additional support through a DHP. Applications are made through your local authority. Find out more about DHPs – link is https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/dhp
