Having Problems Paying Your Rent?

While we are here to help, it is your responsibility to keep your rent account up to date. It does not matter whether you pay full rent or receive housing costs via Universal Credit or Housing Benefit; it is up to you to ensure the rent is paid.

If you are experiencing difficulties, please call our Housing Team straight away on 0141 773 0202. A member of the team will discuss your situation with you in confidence and do everything they can to assist. The earlier you let us know there is a problem, the easier it will be for us to help you set up an affordable payment plan.

Help with Benefits

If you receive Universal Credit, you can opt to have your housing costs paid directly to us through your online journal. Please remember that your very first UC payment will be sent to you directly; you must then pay this to us to keep your account up to date.

It is also vital that you report any changes in your circumstances immediately to ensure your benefits are covered:

Universal Credit: Update your online journal or, if you do not have an online account, call the Universal Credit Helpline on 0800 328 5644.

Housing Benefit: Contact the Council Tax and Benefits Service Contact Centre at The Bridge, 1000 Westerhouse Road, or call 0141 287 5050.

Welfare Benefits & Money Advice

For extra support, we provide a free, confidential Money Advice service in partnership with GEMAP and Connect Community Trust. Our advisors can help you maximise your income and manage debt.

GEMAP Advisor: Available Wednesdays.

Connect Advisor: Available Tuesdays (all day) and Thursday (afternoons).

Please get in touch today—it is much easier to resolve things before arrears grow.

Please also notify the Association directly so we can update your rent account and help you avoid arrears.

Supporting You and Managing Arrears

Our goal is to help you stay in your home, and legal action is always a last resort that we want to avoid. However, if you do not stay in touch with us or if a payment plan is not kept, we may have to start formal proceedings to manage rent arrears. This process can lead to a court decree for the debt, wage arrestment (money taken from your pay), or the loss of your home through eviction.

Please reach out to us early—it is much easier for us to help you find a solution and protect your tenancy before arrears grow.
